So what on earth is a trundle bed you may ask?
Well a trundle (or truckle) or day bed is usually a pair of beds one higher than the other and the lower one is able to slide and stow away under the higher bed. The lower bed is usually on caters or roller.
So the lower bed is easily stored away under the higher once not in use, making it a great piece of furniture because it takes up no additional space once not in use. The lower bed that stores away under the higher bed is the trundle bed, the name trundle really means to roll, but the name can also refer to the pair.
Trundle beds are made from carved wood, cast iron, metal and composite material, and they come in varied sizes and styles, Most kid’s trundles are about the size of a twin bed.
When you need to access an additional sleeping area for sleepovers or unexpected guest, you just roll out your trundle, the mattress is usually already on it, so you make it up and you are ready for a restful night sleep.

Some of the things to keep in mind when you are buying a trundle bed include the space that you have to work with, the overall theme of the décor in your child’s room, the age of your child and the exact application for the bed and trundle.
Is it for more than one child, and how often is it going to be used? Is it just for sleep over’s (for your child) or will it double as a guest bed?

Is it a supplemental sofa type bed in your child’s room that can be turned into more sleeping room for sleep over? Can you buy just the trundle bed (the smaller stows away) only and use it with your excising child’s bed? If so you need to make sure you have the space and the height in the current bed so that the trundle will slide easily under it.

So you are going to need a tape measure paper and pencil and make notes of the size of the room the daybed with trundle will go, or take the measurement of the height and length of your current bed to see it the trundle will fit under it.
Remember there are some cheap trundle beds out there but just make sure you are getting the quality that you deserve, the trundle bed for kids needs to be strong and very durable and sturdy, able to take abuse and pounding, you want to make sure your kids trundle bed last a long time.
